Think of juggling your life as an opportunity to choose what you want to do and where you want to spend your time. Yes, there are some things we all must do (brush your teeth every day) and others which are the right thing to do (tell your parents you love them). But you can decide what is most important (earning big $, saving for the future, going to the movies, serving meals to the homeless, feeding the birds, etc.).


Might help if you make a list of things that are important to you and then go back and decide what is #1, #2... Try then to focus your time on the important ones. And when you feel overwhelmed, which happens to every one at some point, it's ok to take some time to just kick back and give your mind and body a chance to rest.

There are going to be times in life when it seems like it is impossible to juggle everything. But it is amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it. When you start feeling overwhelmed, it is important to look at prioritizing the tasks and make sure you focus on the tasks that are most important to you and that brings you the most value (could be value in the shape of money, happiness, love etc). Try to get organized and create to-do lists or a schedule to help you manage your time. It is usually better to do an activity with complete focus for a period of time rather than jumping back and forth. One strategy is to set aside specific times during the day where you check your email rather than trying to answer every single email as soon as it comes in, since this takes away focus from other activities.

Work life balance is something very important to me. Some people say there is no such thing but I disagree. I have a career, husband, 2 young kids, and a dog, and being organized and prioritizing is very important. Think about what is most important to you, and what are things that you would not want to miss out on. Set a schedule for yourself if that helps you to be organized and write down all that you want to accomplish and if you had to, what are you willing to sacrifice in order to achieve something else. Your priorities may change over time, and that is ok, just continue to be true to yourself and do what makes you and your family or loved ones happy.

The key to this is to be organized and be realistic about your limits. This includes being willing to say no.

Planning for your day is essential. The people who truly do it all understand their daily schedule, keep running lists of things that they need to accomplish, and figure out blocks of time when the tasks will get done. Prioritization is essential as not everything has the same importance. Be willing just to accept that somethings you intend to do might be able to fade away and it won't matter.

In any case, make sure that you do reserve some time for yourself. An often overlooked way to achieve this is to wake up a littler earlier than normal or even earlier than you like and do some of the essential things first thing -- studying or researching with coffee/breakfast.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, talked to a trusted person. Feelings of being overwhelmed can spiral into anxiety and depression quickly. Don't let that happy. When times are tough, they actually are always not as bad as they feel. A good night's sleep or two can make a world of difference.

You have to make a list of your priorities and focus most of your attention and energy on the things that appear on that list. It is important to note that everything going on in your life is not a priority! You just treat everything like it is which may lead to frustration and stress when you have too many things to do and not enough time.


Try to focus on things that will improve your quality of life and discard things/people that take away from that or bring you down. With regards to people, if they are not helping you to achieve your goals or bringing positive energy into the relationship, let them go. If you have family members who do not inspire you to do your best or provide uplifting motivation, talk to them less. If you have a job that just stresses you out and is not rewarding, either work less hours or find a new one. If you have more than one hobby, sit back and think which one brings you the most joy and divert more of your time towards that endeavor.


In the end, you have to sort through your life and decide which things or people are not worth the energy they are consuming and cut back. Good luck.

Thank you comment icon I agree with Paul, most importantly once you figure out your priority's set boundaries . While at work try not to focus on family issues or projects. While eating dinner try not to focus on ways to jump start tomorrows presentation, take calls from your boss, complain about your colleague. Sure its ok to share but limit the extra time you spend on it. Likely if work made u unhappy and you spend that whole evening bringing it up . it becomes a snow balls effect and now you go to work the next day already on the offensive. Desiree Harris
