Casey’s Answer

For underwater divers, according to waterwelders.com:

"According to commercial divers and global statistics, the average underwater welding salary is $53,990 annually and $25.96 per hour. However, most incomes float around $25,000 – $80,000. Diver welders in the top 10% make $83,730 while the bottom 10% pull in $30,700."

For traditional welding, Payscale.com states that it's $17.71 an hour.

All of those numbers though will vary by experience, location, and company!

Shane’s Answer

If you are making 53,000 a year welding you are doing something wrong. There is not an underwater welder on earth that makes 25.96 an hour. Hell most of them wont get out of bed for less than 80/hr. Most shop jobs pay anywhere from 18/hr to 25/hr. Shipyards usually pay anywhere from 30/hr to 40/hr.

Dirk "Dutch"’s Answer

A good pipe welder in 2022 should be making 32 an hour or more. Some I know are making 50 an hour.
