What is the best option for me to acheive my goal to become a marine biologist?

I want to become a marine biologists and rehabilitate injured and sick marine animals. I also want to help the oceans ecosystems thrive and decrease ocean pollution. I want to be close this goal in about 4 years however I understand I will most likely need 6. I know I wont be a marine biologist off the bat so I will try to work my way up to becoming a great marine biologist with other related jobs. #marine-biology

Finding an organization that you can volunteer to work hands-on with marine mammals is a great start to achieving your goal. The Marine Mammal Center is a hospital for seals & sea lions in California allows volunteers to feed the animals and clean the pens. I'm sure there are organizations similar to this, since you're located in Florida. This field does normally require formal education so I encourage you to pursue a bachelors in marine biology and/or a veterinary technician certificate.

Have you looked at Colleges that offer the degree you are interested in?

Here is one for an example of a College.   At the Marine Biology Department of Texas A&M University at Galveston, our students have countless opportunities to work with some of the top professors in their field. Our location on the Gulf of Mexico provides the perfect setting for invaluable hands-on learning. Whether it is in the classroom, in the lab, or in the field, our students get the knowledge needed to be successful in a wide array of careers.

Looking at various colleges will give you an idea of what the programs look like in order to pursue your area of interest.    This will also help you learning what the entrance requirements are for that school and you can check on scholarships, tuition assistance, etc.

Get dive certified first. Padi or naui. That way you can volunteer on projects like coral reef restoration etc and study same time. There are many volunteer opportunities around the world. You dont have to be qualified already. University of Cape Town has one of the best marine biology programs in the world. Ushaka Marine World in Durban takes on volunteers and interns every year and they rescue and rehabilitate seals, penguins, turtles and sometimes dolphins and reintroduce them into the wild. I think SA is the capital of marine wildlife!
