Daisy,
I’m biased about culinary schools because I am a graduate of the CIA(Culinary Institute of America). I do feel it is one of the best schools in the world. They are always keeping up to date with all the food trends, business, and cuisines from all around the world. I was originally accepted to the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco but moved to New Jersey for a short time and ended up going and seeing the CIA in New York and fell in love with it. Needless to say, after 26 years I haven’t left NJ. When I went there, it was the only campus in the world, now they are multiple locations in the US, including one in San Antonio, and international ones as well. My recommendation is for you to go to the school and see it and make sure it’s a good fight for you. There are a lot of cooking schools out there but some of them don’t give you a 2 year associates(or more) like the CIA does. If you are going to invest the time and money make sure it’s worth the end result, like an Associates or Bachelors degree. I do also suggest that you research the other schools to compare. I do know of some pretty good Culinary programs in local community colleges that are certainly less money than a CIA and still offer a good education/training.
Hope this helps!!! If you have anymore questions about schools or anything else Culinary related, please feel free to reach out.
Good luck, Chris
