Hello, I am a senior in high school. As I soon go off to college I plan to go into the engineering field. My passion is music and dancing but I wanted to combine these passions with the field I wanted to pursue. However I am having trouble with it. I research and found that I was interested in computer engineering and wanted to pursue that specific engineering field. I was always interested in finding internship programs according to the field that I want to pursue. #engineering #computer #internships

There are many internship opportunities available in the field of computer engineering, as computer engineering is a broad field that encompasses a wide range of technologies, applications, and industries. Some examples of internships you might be able to find in computer engineering include:

Software development: Many technology companies, such as Google, Microsoft, and Apple, offer internships for computer engineering students to work on software development projects. These internships can give you a chance to work with experienced engineers and learn about the latest technologies and development practices.

Hardware design: Many companies that design and manufacture computer hardware, such as Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA, offer internships for students interested in computer engineering. These internships may focus on circuit design, PCB layout, and testing and validation of hardware.

Robotics: Robotics companies such as Boston Dynamics, Google, and Bosch offer internships for students interested in computer engineering and robotics. This can include, software and hardware development, control and sensor system, robotics research

Cybersecurity: Cybersecurity companies such as McAfee, Norton, and Kaspersky offer internships for students interested in computer engineering and cybersecurity. This can include Penetration testing, security research, Vulnerability assessment.

Gaming industry: Game development companies such as EA, Ubisoft, and Activision offer internships for students interested in computer engineering and game development. This can include, game engine development, game physics, animation and artificial intelligence

As for combining your passion of music with engineering, it's not a straightforward path but here are a few ways you could potentially merge these interests:

Music Information Retrieval: Music Information Retrieval is the area of study where engineers apply computer science and signal processing techniques to analyze and understand music. Some applications include Audio fingerprinting, Music transcription, Automatic Music generation, Music recommendation

Audio Engineering: You could explore audio engineering or audio software development. This could involve developing software for digital audio workstations, audio effects, or music production.

Music Education Technology: With the growing interest in music education technology, you could explore creating educational tools, software and interactive systems for music teaching and learning.

These are just a few examples, and there may be other ways to combine your interests in computer engineering and music as well. It may also depend on what college or universities you end up attending, and the research and projects that are available there. It's good to research different possibilities and see what options align with your specific interests and goals.

Many large companies will offer internships. I know for a fact that Mastercard (where I work), Microsoft, and Google all do. I would imagine your college's career center would be able to help you find more. They may not take you after only one year - I believe Mastercard prefers to take people with three years of college under their belt, but does sometimes take people with two years.

Don't let that stop you from applying, though. Getting your name out there in front of the recruiters is a good thing. Even if you don't get a position one year, if you apply again the next your name will be familiar, and it shows your persistency and determination.

It is good you are thinking about an internship. You can earn valuable experience in your chosen field ahead of graduating. In addition, an internship and its associated experience can help you to stand out in an interview for a fulltime job after you graduate. For the Field of Computer Engineering, I suggest that you determine whether there are any computer hardware or software firms in your area. These locations would be a logical place to inquire regarding a potential internship. Such firms often offer summer internships.
