From my experience there are a lot of advantages and maybe just one disadvantage I think remember when I worked in facilities management/maintenance. While working as an Assistant Facilities Management, I enjoyed being counted on to get things right. The people in my building counted on me to solve issues when things went wrong in their office or in the building. Once you get it right, you end up being looked at as a Savior. However being in facilities management, meant that you were on call for emergencies. So planning a vacation out of town or trying to enjoy the weekends could be be either be relaxing or a bit tense and stressful. But if you are a person who enjoys getting things right, I would go for it. This industry is always booming and needs people all the time. So you would never be without a job.

Its been 7 years since am into Facilities - Real Estate. This was my first job stream. You have lot of advantages - where you have interactions with internal / external stakeholders - like office Landlords / vendors / finance team / auditors / procurement / security team and leaders from business groups. This develops your skill and standard . According to me, this connects with end to end customers in a office. Your decision making skill / planning skill improves. You got to solve escalations and manage crisis on time. Keeps you engaged always. I don't see any disadvantage in this field. Since this is service oriented field- it is 24/7 and you many need to be always available as you are held responsible for the entire office.
