Being a heavy equipment operator is very rewarding because you usually see immediate results from your work. But it can be very dangerous if you don't use safety while operating. Always be aware of your surroundings and ground crews in your range. Operating also involves making sure your equipment is running properly and keeping it safe for you to.
A good grease gun is important to have to keep all the moving parts lubricated. A good shovel for cleaning dirt and rocks that can build up. And definitely have all your ppe (personal protective equipment).this would be Z71 safety glasses, good work boots, leather gloves, and proper clothing for the climate you are working in.
Enjoy your work and be SAFE!!!

1. Go into any field thinking you know nothing. You can’t teach something to someone who already knows everything.
2. Try to learn something knew everyday. It may be directly relating to your trade or it may not.
3. Don’t learn to fast, but don’t hold yourself back. Be willing to work hard, do what is necessary to progress forward, but do so in a way that benefits you, your trade and your coworkers. Never put anyone at risk.
