Mathew’s Answer

Training, compensation, benefits, are the pro,s. The con,s to the union are you have to clock in a certain amount of hours to collect pension and or benefits. If you complete the apprenticeship and become a journeyman you make 300.00 to 500.00 dollars a day. There are no payed sick days or vacation & you have to pay your dues to the union or you get kicked out. I hope this has answered your question.

John’s Answer

The pros of becoming a painter is that it is a skill that you can use almost anywhere around the world. Pay can be really good if you find government or Union work. Cons definitely outweigh the pros. Here are a few cons. (In the weather so it's usually too hot or too cold, lots and lots of unpaid driving to get to jobs. Wear and tear on your vehicle,. Looked down upon by other trades, lowest paid of all the trades, exposure to lead and asbestos dust, exposure by lungs and skin to very harmful chemicals, very physically demanding, very fast paced, sore muscles, very very dirty job, and the list on)
