Hi Savannah,

It sounds like you have such a passion for animals, which is wonderful. You are able to transition from being a Veterinarian to a Zoologist. I found some helpful information from the following website: https://education.seattlepi.com/someone-major-zoology-do-2897.html

The website stated majoring in zoology is a great way to start your career working with animals. Zoology is the study of animal biology and behavior. Through hands-on experiences and classroom lectures, a zoology degree will prepare you for a job market full of exciting options and avenues in the field.

Curator

Curators who specialize in zoology oversee exhibits in establishments such as zoos, aquariums or nature museums. These individuals also have a hand in designing education programs for the public as well as conducting additional research that will enhance the development of their place of employment. Along with background knowledge in zoology, experience in business planning, fundraising and excellent people skills are important characteristics for curators.

Wildlife Biologist

Wildlife biologists conduct research on animal behavior in the wild. They also study the impact of human interaction on the quality of life and overall development of animal species throughout the decades. Wildlife biologists often have focused on a particular species or habitation in their zoology major. For example, a marine biologist studies saltwater life, and an entomologist studies insects. A wildlife biologist can also focus specifically on evolution or animal behavior. Having experience as a wildlife biologist also opens doors to an education career as a high school teacher or university professor.

Veterinary Technician

Zoology majors may use their undergraduate education to become vet technicians. In this career, they assist the veterinarian in major and minor procedures on animals as well as medical testing and checkups. A degree in zoology can also serve as a stepping-stone to becoming a veterinarian. In order to become a veterinarian, zoology majors must go on to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Veterinarians are dedicated doctors who spend their careers caring for the health of animals.

Zookeeper

One of the roles a zoologist can take on in a zoo is that of zookeeper. A zookeeper cares for animals to make sure they are safe, well fed, healthy and content. The zookeeper is often responsible for educating the public, such as patrons or groups of students. Zookeeping is physically demanding, with lifting feedbags, supplies and animals included in the job description. Zoology majors would benefit by volunteering at a zoo or animal shelter to gain experience in animal care.

I hope this answers your question!
