I am going into a class to be a medical administrative assistant, what is a normal day like in this field?

I have a email that i would like to use to communicate with someone on this field. I want to be able to ask a couple of questions and get the feel to what i am going to be doing with my career. It would be much appreciated, My email is wahlbrink.madison@live.jobcorps.org #healthcare #career #medicine #psychology

A day in a life of a medical administrative assistant consists of scheduling for doctors, working on insurance billing, obtaining authorizations for procedures, and the like. You would like this job if you enjoy being detail-oriented and keeping others organized.

Madison, sometimes it just depends on how busy the office is, or how popular the doctor is. Sometimes specialized medicine isn’t as busy as general, but it can be worse at times. Like cardiology!

Starting out, you may be answering the phone all day, or learning to do so. It could be patients, other doctors, pharmacies and even pharmaceutical reps. I’m assuming this is like going to be front office medical assisting. The back office people are very helpful to the new front office people. Just be calm on the phones, because some of the people calling won’t be! If you are calm they will calm down. Don’ t be afraid to say, I don’t know, to a question, or that you are new to this. Medical terminology is a good way to boost your confidence in an office. Pharmacology general knowledge, really helped me in the office.

My first day on the floor as a nurse, I was stuck with MRI scheduling. And I was horrible at it. I passed it on to someone who wasn’t. Just remember that you are human and not an octopus. Your desire to this work usually makes it much easier. People who don’t want to be in this line of work, stand out real easily and don’t last long. Take care and have fun.
