Danny’s Answer

Before being certified, you should be aware how long your certification is valid for. Every certification is different, some are 1 year, 2 year, 3 year or even lifetime. The governing body will provide guidelines on how to maintain a valid certification or license. Some may require a certain amount of hours or training or CPE (Continuing Professional Education) in order to maintain the status. I would do a quick google search and see what the requirements are to maintain that license/certification. Also a good tip is to spread the training out over the year and not do it all at the last minute like everyone else.

Paul’s Answer

I agree with the information and advice that Danny provided above. I would also add that renewing a certification or license often has a cost associated with it and it can be helpful to know that information to avoid a surprise bill. Some employers may offer partial reimbursement of certifications or licenses.
