The most important thing you want to know about financial success is that "salary" does not tell the story. For example, if the best you could make in El Paso is $50,000, and you hear of an opportunity in Honolulu for $90,000, like most of us, you would get excited. Yet, the standard of living in Hawaii is much higher. So, to keep the same standard of living that you have in El Paso on a $50,000 salary, you would need to make $103,000 in Honolulu!
I imagine there are some high paying positions in El Paso, such as heart surgeon. This site will give you some salary information for Texas. Keep in mind that when you look at salary figures, you want to make sure they are ENTRY level salaries. MEDIAN salary figures are often much higher.
