Bruce’s Answer
From my first programming class I have really enjoyed working in software. I never got very deep into the tech, but I have had jobs programming, IT, now as a business analyst where I get to talk with people at an organization (company, non-profit, school, etc) and learn what their needs are and then decide how to solve or help with those needs by building a technical solution.
I really enjoy talking with them, going from their general description down to little details, and then determining good way to solve for those needs.
There are LOTS of other jobs in tech. Start with schooling options in different schools and programs. Talk with others. Ask for help.
Good luck to you!

Computer technicians work on either computer software systems or computer hardware -- and often, both -- for private clients or companies in a variety of industries. They must know how computer technology operates and how to solve computer problems that baffle the average user. Many technicians are self-taught and have a natural talent for figuring out complex problems, but the job usually requires some form of computer technician training or formal education as well. Since computers encompass a wide spectrum of components, technicians are likely to specialize their skills and may not have expertise in all areas.
Software and Hardware Expertise
Computer technicians must be highly knowledgeable about all aspects of how a computer operates. On the software side, they require skill at using antivirus software and tools to eliminate viruses, spyware and other malware, as well as how to differentiate between good and bad files. Technicians need to know which types of software programs are compatible with certain types of hardware, being aware of RAM and hard-drive space requirements, as well as how to install and upgrade the programs. With hardware, technicians must be able to build and take apart a computer with ease, understanding how each part fits together, such as graphics cards and motherboard slots.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting is a huge part of what computer technicians do, so they must be adept at problem-solving for every kind of computer problem under the sun. With so many models, brands and programs, there's no way to know everything right off the bat, so the technician must be able to find solutions quickly. Knowing how to search the Internet for solutions, such as fixes for software or firmware errors, is an essential skill to do this. A computer technician might have to repair physical computer components, involving intricate parts like circuit boards. They must be able to identify which parts or programs are causing problems and to conduct repairs safely and without error.
