Scott’s Answer

There are welders that specialize in Aerospace this could include work on satellites rockets etc. As far being in outer-space, at this point you would have to work for NASA as an astronaut, however as space tourism ramps up it may be a future need. Only time will tell. If you are interested in Welding consider Under Water Welding. It pays the most and if you like to Scuba it can make a hobby into a full time profession. Also since most Astronauts train under water it might give you a leg up when Outer-Space Welding becomes the next most needed profession!!

Stephen’s Answer

There is not any welding in space, or I should say there are no welders in space. This is for a special reason, one that causes NASA and Astronauts many issues in space. Metals in space weld themselves, if you touch like metals together they will weld themselves together. On Earth the atmosphere creates a barrier around all materials that prevents like metals from welding when touching, but in the vacuum of space there is no atmosphere and this allows any like metals that touch to weld together. https://www.careervillage.org/
