Which type of welding would be considered to be the most profitable as an employee?

I know there are many types of welding. Which would be the best to master? #money

It depends on what you'd like to do. MIG welding is typically the most often used process in shop fabrication environments. Stick welding (6010/7018) is used in many construction jobs. TIG welding is the most often used process in pipe and sheet metal work. I may be biased, but I would concentrate on stick and TIG and seek work in the piping industry. The Steamfitters Union in Portland has an excellent apprenticeship program, and Journeyman welders make an excellent wage ($45+/hr.), as well as great benefits (health insurance and pension).
