Ana’s Answer

Hey Tyree,

It really depends on the skills you would like to gather and get a certification on. In average a certification level should be achieve within 6 month. However, it really depends on the specific field you chose, as well as if you would like to have a degree on the topic as well.

I would recommend starting with researching which type of computer tech certification you would like.

Here are couple of examples of computer tech fields:

  • IT Certifications
  • Network and Security
  • Hardware
  • Operating Systems

Furthermore, will continue with look into some computer technology associated degrees:

  • Java and C++ programming
  • Data communications
  • Operating systems management
  • Multimedia programming
  • Computer literacy
  • Database management

Based on this research you should look into what level of proficiency you would like to achieve. That would help to determine the time you would need for your certification.

I would love to hear how it goes and if you have sign up for some certification course already. Please do not hesitate to reach out with more questions on the topic. I will be happy to provide more feedback.

Wish you good luck,

Ana

Ganesh’s Answer

Most of the additional training in CS after your college regular education, will take 3-6 months. It is based on the domain that you are looking to take the training. Eg, if you are planning to study software programming languages, or computer network or hardware etc. Depends on the program you are planning to study, the courses will have varied duration. I am from Computer network background. If you would like to complete the Cisco Certified Network Associates (in any stream), you would need to spend a 3- 5 months of study. Simliar way, other courses in Java, Microsoft, Database like Oracle or MS SQL, it will have its own time to get the full knowledge of the course content.
