Aleshia’s Answer

A typical day includes getting vitals (height, weight, temp, blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respirations, and pulse ox), reviewing medications, obtaining medical history, etc. You would also assist the provider with any procedures and perform lab work. Your day may include some administrative work like scheduling appointments, billing processing, and insurance paperwork.

Aleshia recommends the following next steps:

Job shadow at a doctors office
Find schools in your area that offer a medical assistant program.

Estelle’s Answer

Being a medical assistant can be a very fulfilling career. Your day will involve getting rooms prepared for the physician, taking labs, and helping with paperwork. Not much experience is required, and most of it is on the job training. I wish you the best if you decide to become an MA.
