Make sure you invest time in mathematics and science courses. If AP courses are available at your school, sign up and take them. They are rigorous, but they teach critical thinking and will help prepare you for the PSAT, SAT and ACT. Study and have fun.

To be a software engineer you should focus on math and if you're in high school you should take computer science courses.
A focus on abstract algebra, discrete mathematics, graph theory, and other math courses with computer science will provide a foundational background for this.

To be a software engineer, you should focus on math and computer science courses. It’s a good idea to start with a programming course for any age. STEM projects are a great way to get started with software programming.

Software engineering requires some critical thinking and problem solving, so in addition to computer programming classes, make sure you have some in secure coding/security as well as problem solving and critical thinking. Good classes for this are things like Ethics.
