Nivedita’s Answer

Hey Jose

Always be on the lookout. Summer is a great time if you are looking for internship opportunities but usually any time during the year there should be plenty of options for employment. Just try to do follow steps

Nivedita recommends the following next steps:

Be on the lookout for jobs on Linkedln.
Connect and build your network , try going to meetups related to your domain - meetup.com (there are many free events held everyday/week)
Keep building your skillset, you can take an courses from coursera.com, udemy.com, codacity.com
Start solving problems and preparing for interviews whenever you get time and keep applying simultaneously so that when an opportunity knocks your door, you will be all ready to go for it.
Thank you comment icon Agreed - always be on the lookout! Lance Oliver

Shaurya’s Answer

I don't think there is a particular time which is best to look for employment applicable to the entire IT/Networking industry. However, the start of the fiscal year at a particular company may coincide with higher job opportunities at that company. Considering you are a student at an IT school, it would be advisable to speak to any placement officer or career advisor at your school, as they may have some relations with IT firms, and may help out to directly connect you with recruiters.

Shaurya recommends the following next steps:

Look for jobs on LinkedIn and other job portals.
Complete the CompTIA certifications you are pursuing, and then also consider Cisco Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP and CCIE.

Lance’s Answer

Anytime is the right time to be looking for employment. In today's job market, individuals should constantly be looking for the next opportunity and continuously looking for ways to make themselves more marketable.

The CompTIA suite of certification are excellent additions to strengthen your resume. The Department of Defense requires various CompTIA certifications for different positions. To make yourself even more marketable, taking the Cisco equivalent of Network+ (CCNA) will open up additional opportunities for you. Also, continuing on with the CompTIA and getting your Security+ can also be quite valuable.

In short, continue making yourself as attractive to employers and seek out the positions where you are very well qualified to be competitive when your skills are reviewed.
