Shaurya’s Answer

To become a lawyer you generally need to complete a formal degree course in an institute and program recognized in your country. Assuming you are considering becoming a lawyer within South Africa. As stipulated in the country’s Attorneys Act of 1979, you must complete a four-year bachelor's program to earn the required LLB degree. The degree must be earned at an accredited law school in South Africa.

DENNIS’s Answer

Hi Lucky - I am a lawyer in New York and North Carolina. I am unfamilar with South Africa's requirements. However, generally you need a passion to help people in need. Remember, people only call a lawyer when they are in trouble! Arrested, getting divorced, in an accident, want to buy a house or just to sue someone. People call lawyers only when they need us. So first you must care about people. Then you need to stay in school - the more you learn the more you connect with others. As a lawyer I had to learn about construction work, medical issues and a host of other matters. So stay in school and learn as much as you can! Always keep an open mind and remember about things - you can't learn if your mind is closed! So most importantly, stay in school and keep you grades up!
