I would like to know if I should student abroad to Mexico to study dentistry and then come back to the US and work? I've heard it takes 6 yrs and it'll be much more cheaper. Any advice please? Also if dentistry is the best option?

I'm a Junior year (11th) and have this year and next to finish HS so I don't know if I would have to do papers a yr before student abroad. #college #student abroad #mexico #Dentist #Help

Sandy’s Answer

Studying in Mexico might be less expensive but in the long run it maybe easier to practice in US when you complete your education in the states. Often getting an education in another country can be difficult getting a good residency, start in the medical profession. It is tough enough getting an education in the states and competing with others after your education but it will be more difficult getting your education in another country.

Sandy recommends the following next steps:

Do some research on others who have chosen your possibly path. How difficult was it after obtaining your education in Mexico and practicing in the US.
Determine what schools you want to attend in the US and possible paths to accomplish your goal.

Vick’s Answer

Dentistry can be a great career choice .

While it may be  cheaper to go abroad to Mexico to study dentistry, it might restrict your choices as to where to practice. Some states only recognize US and Canadian schools for licensure.
