Tejaswini’s Answer

Hi,

That is a very nice question.

I have been working and in parallel doing social work through my company. Based on my interest i do attend both on campus and off campus events. I do get to travel a lot, however travelling includes to places like remote villages, orphanage, hospice centre, old age homes.

Hope that answers your question.

Be informed that traveling won't be a challenge if you are truly passionate about the cause. Most of the times the NGO will cover up for it.

Regards,

Tejaswini

Great Question,
It all depends on where you chose to be employed and the level of impact you would like to have. You can work at a college as a clinical social worker, in this setting the student's come to you. If you work in the Non- Profit sector your chances of commuting is higher. I hope this helps. It all depends on the company and title. Traveling is not mandatory.

Simeon’s Answer

Social work is a pretty wide field, so it's important to ask what kind of social work you're looking to get into. You could end up with a group like the Peace Corps that travels internationally, but a majority of social work will be local as far as I know. Social work tends to occur in the urban sections of large cities, although social work can occur for many kinds of people and can be very rural-focused depending on the particular non-profit.
