Look at the IT conferences like Cisco Live, AWS, VmWorld, and others (there are many). Specifically go online and look at the agenda and presentations they are providing as a guide to the latest technology that people are learning. If possible view the conference sessions. Search youtube for the topics that you find there to find short/quick overviews. Ihave transitioned my 20 year career every 3-4 years and this is my method.

Keep yourself updated with new technology , but be an expert in your domain, as its tough to be an expert in all. Keep yourself motivated enough to adopt change in technology specifically. in your domain.
It might possible in poorest situation where you see no scope of your domain so far. That's very critical situation to keep self motivation to be up in IT. But, its require to change and utilize your all experience to head up with new that is going to pour hope in yourself for survival.
