Could you describe one of your typical work days?
I’m a senior at Brennan high school in San Antonio that’s looking for insight on forensic psychology. I wanna be able to work closely with crime and really figure out how someone’s mind works.

I think your first task would be to look into how much you like paper work. You will be doing a lot of paper work in this job.
Next thing you should look at is where you want to go to college. The college you choose should have both a psychology and criminal justice department. Pick one to major in and minor in the other. You should also look at the professors who teach there and what they are currently researching. You might be able to join their research groups.
You also need to look at PhD programs. You will need to recieve your PhD in Psychology to be a credible source and you will need to write your thesis on something groundbreaking in the area of forensic psychology.
Forensic Psychology is a semi-competitive field because everybody and their mom wants to be one because they've seen a crime show. You need to be willing to put in the extra work to prove you are the best.
You also need to get an internship with the FBI or another crime-fighting organization where you can learn the day-to-day work and you can learn skills you wouldn't learn at college. These skills include interrogation and profiling techniques. You need to be open to learning and constructive criticism and varying opinions that might not agree with yours.
I suggest looking up a forensic psychology journal (every scientific discipline has a journal for published peer-reviewed scholarly articles) and looking at the authors of the published papers with the journal. Look at how they got into their fields and what they do. As a forensic psychologist, you will need to continually write papers to maintain your credibility in the area.
Do some googling

Elizabeth recommends the following next steps:
Hi Elizabeth, this is a good answer but it does not directly address the students question. They asked what they typical day for someone in this field looks like . From you response, it seems like paper work is a HUGE part of the day to day responsibilities but any other information you can provide would be helpful as well.
