Glendon’s Answer

My job involves a mix between process improvement and project management. I work in the tech industry and my role focuses on identifying problems, measuring them, implementing solutions and measuring the change over time to ensure the project that I have completed has provided a benefit. It is challenging and requires strong skills in project management, time management and communication.

Melinda’s Answer

I'm a corporate recruiter for a large telecommunications company. I am responsible for creating a robust sourcing strategy for my clients. For each client, I conduct what we call an Intake session to learn more about the team and the role that I will be filling. I then connect with potential applicants mainly through LinkedIn or Indeed, depending on my client. I'm responsible for conducting preliminary interviews with candidates and providing a diverse candidate slate for my clients to interview. I'm also responsible for guiding my hiring managers through the process and ensuring they are conducting interviews appropriately and fairly.

Christie’s Answer

I am in business to business tech sales. I decided to get into sales right when I finished undergrad as I was in the service industry at the time and loved working in front of people and selling. I work remotely from home (virtual meetings, email, voice calls) most of the time and then travel into my assigned territory usually once per month to meet with customers face to face. I work with current customers managing their current usage, as well as, work with them on new 'use cases' or new ways to use the technology. It is a busy, face passed environment. I have quarterly sales quotas/goals that I need to reach as a part of my compensation plan. If you're interested in getting into tech sales or sales in general, I would recommend getting any type of sales experience ie the service industry, retail etc.
