Jason’s Answer

Although there aren't a ton of people in dermatology, this is not because there are too few people trying to enter the profession. Dermatology is actually one of the most competitive specializations in medicine, offering both incredible pay and a schedule that isn't as demanding as many other specializations (like surgery). Schools today only offer a very limited number of slots for derm students, which means that even top tier medical students with many publications in the field of dermatology can have difficulty to enter the field. Which state you try to enter can affect your odds as well.

Rachel’s Answer

Dermatology is competitive and you will need to do well in medical school to be accepted into this residency. However, upon completion of the residency, you should have no problem whatsoever finding an excellent job.
