I haven't been one myself, but I have 2 family members who have been. They both state the freedom throughout your day was their favorite aspect of the job. You of course have deadlines and routes to adhere to, but you don't have the constant day-to-day supervision that certain people don't enjoy.

I have only done part-time work as a package delivery driver, which I consider to be reasonably similar to a postal worker's job.
To me, the most enjoyable aspect has been the ability to contribute towards connecting people with 1) things they have ordered online, 2) items their loved ones had sent them etc.

and of course, the state of freedom can't hurt :)
