Welding is an excellent vocational program to enter! Generally speaking, a vocational welding program takes less than 2 years to complete. Most vocational schools/programs help their graduate students to find employment so basically they will find you a job once you finish their welding program. Best part, projections for welders 10 years and 20 years from now look very good which means that this country will need people that know how to weld so there will be jobs open in the field and welders are usually very well compensated (means they earn a good yearly salary). For example, back in the 2008-2009 school year, I had a deaf student in my science class. He was a sophomore who was born deaf so he has never had any hearing ability. He went to school in the morning for a few classes but at lunch he went to the local county vo-tec school/program where he learned to weld. Once he finished that welding program and graduated from vo-tec and HS, the vo-tec teacher placed him in his first welding job. By the time he was 21 years old, he was already earning a yearly salary of $95,000!
It’s a great field to go into... I wish you the best of luck in your future working career!
