Tobe,
The technology field is very broad. As Nicolah mentioned, it would help us more specifically address your question if you could provide more information as to your interests. That said, independent of your specific interests, it is important to know that technology evolves quickly. In this field, you will constantly be learning. It will be in the form of new programming languages, systems, frameworks, services, concepts, machine learning, data science, problem solving, architecture, ... and more. That's the straight technology side. In terms of general growth and responsibility, as you progress in your career, you will be expected to continuously improve your communication, collaboration (working with others), leadership, and mentorship abilities.
It is a challenging career - but a fun and rewarding one - if technology and computers interest you :)

Most important thing is to like what you are doing. When you understand what you are working on, it is a pleasure.
Initially try different things till you decide which path you want to take. There are so many disciplines related to computers.
good luck

The first thing you should know is this field has a pretty wide range, what exactly are you interested in pursuing?
There is engineers, technicians, help desk support, system administrators, networking, analysts, cyber security professionals just to name a few.
A lot of these fields require schooling on top of receiving certifications, and having to maintain those certifications by keeping up with the field with further studies and a fee, or you have to achieve the next certifications in the series, usually with a fee as well.
Feel free to ask more questions, I would gladly give additional information.

This is a quite a broad field, the skills/technologies required for each role might differ. But there is one thing in common: it is a fast-changing industry and you need to keep learning. So to me, the most important thing will be the ability and passio of learning.
Some of popular technologies 30 years ago are obsolete and not available anymore, for example, floppy disk, token ring, ATM, frame-relay, you name it. On the other hand, some of most popular technologies have not been there even 5 years ago.
In this sense, it is vital to be passionate about new technology and be ready to learn something new.
If you are interested in one specific area, learn something fundamental and to get a professional certificate might be a good beginning(eg, CCNA/MSCE/etc).
