This may sound counter intuitive, the attitude that asking about money is treasonous begins at the top, whether in cooking school or in the kitchens of the world's most famous restaurants . Everyone with artistic cooking aspirations wants to work for and learn from the best.
It all comes down to your performance & cooking skills.
