If you are either undecided, or want a broad major that is applicable to many professions (outside of a generic Biz degree), I'd suggest a Communications major. This will give you exposure to a ton of different coursework, subjects, etc., while allowing you to be flexible in the career you choose.

I would suggest to get a Business Administration degree. You can usually double major so do something like Marketing and IT combo. You can also do a Business major and a Communications minor. Either way you should have access to the same opportunities as a straight up communications major with one key difference - you will have flexibility to switch to another career path later if you choose.

If you’re specifically interested in online companies then you may want to consider some basic technical or programming courses as well. You can also study yourself on that. It doesn’t need to be fancy or formal but knowing how technology works can help you understand the company better which will help you both get the job and do better at the job. A comms person who knows how to explain what’s happening in the software to the public is much more valuable and easier if you don’t run away from technology. Same thing for a designer who can help design the software etc.

For social media, I would think some sort of marketing degree may be helpful as well as the previous poster's recommendation on a communications degree.

Hello,
Consider a bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or Marketing as well I would blend it with some computer science courses to strengthen the tech side of the brain.

Additionally, media companies (big and small) now have to be hyper focused on their social media (for their traffic and general engagement figures). It's likely a journalism major would catch their eye over other fields.

I would suggest meeting with advisors from both Marketing and Communications colleges. Get an idea of what each major will entail, such as, what type of courses each major consists of and what careers are correlated with these majors. Digital Marketing may be something you may be interested in.
I hope this helps.
