I have also worked retail (cashier, clothing sales, flower sales), customer service (phone operator), modeling, and information center management. Out of all areas I have worked, I love culinary/hospitality the best - 37 years worth and still going.
It is a very demanding work field, but you can say that about any field of business that you want to succeed/make money in. Money is not good when you start out, and you will have to jump around to various restaurants to get promotions to become a chef, but I love it.

Hi Keaton,
I would say the best thing about working in the culinary profession is the ability to create and be creative. You also get to meet new people all the time and forge meaningful friendships. The cons may be the long hours and hard work. You typically work late nights, weekends and holidays. If you are considering a career in the culinary arts I would suggest reaching out to someone in your area (you could go to a restaurant you like) and ask them questions and see if they would be open to letting you shadow (follow) them to see if it's something you want to pursue. Good luck
