What career should I go to college for?

My name is Wyatt and I'm a Junior at North Branch High School. I play many sports such as Football, Basketball, and Powerlifting. I enjoy working out and staying fit. I find many interests in biology and science. I also think a job in law enforcement might be fun for me. I am looking for a job that I actually like. I am not interested in having a job that pays well yet bores me. #biology#animals#college #sports #trainer#fit

Hey Wyatt, like me, it seems like health and fitness is a big part of your life, as are sports. If you're really in to biology, then I think nutrition and dietetics is a field you should really look into. The health-and-wellness skills you learn from that field will serve you so well in your personal life and help you live a longer, healthier, happier life. And, you can then use that knowledge you've gained to help other people live healthier, happier and better lives too. Maybe you could even land a job with a sports team, as teams and leagues are becoming way more aware by the day of how important it is to eat and sleep right.

I based on your personality traits you have listed, you could be a registered dietician, pre-medical student and go to medical school, personal trainer, bio-engineering (create useful devices for medical field, like prosthetic arms/legs), chemical engineering and make new medicines, pharmacologist, or a nurse! Best of luck. I also really enjoyed science, I majored in biology at Penn State and moved onto medical school when I decided I wanted to work with people vs animals or drugs. This is a big decision to make, so it is ok if you don't know right away. Just make sure you are taking relevant classes your first year and stay in touch with your advisor.

Hi Wyatt;
Great news. You don't need to make that decision right away. I recommend that you spend the first two years of school taking your general education classes. You can take electives in those areas you are leaning toward and see if you really like the subject matter. Don't be afraid to explore the avenues, speak to people in those fields and gather more information before making a decision.

When choosing a career path you want to make sure to pick a field that will provide you with job security. Especially with this pandemic many people have been laid off, furloughed, or hours cut short. If you don't know what to do, business is always a safe bet. There are plenty of careers within business that could be combined with your interests. As an undergrad it is okay to not know what you want to do, but having a general since of what direction you'd like to go in will definitely help. By junior/senior year it is best to have finalized that direction and by then your entry level gen ed classes should give you an idea of what you like and what you don't. Either way try to choose a career path that is needed in the market and has ample amount of jobs compared to a job that does not take many people or is a niche group.
