Hi Hazel, it sounds like you like to keep busy. Practicing veterinarians tend to not count their hours. Even if you are one in a well run practice, it is rare that a working will stop with 40 hours. A good work-life balance therefore needs to be targeted early on in your time at vet school and later on in your career. A good veterinarian will excel at their profession, in terms of medical and surgical expertise, but she will also learn to budget time for things that may not be so exciting like record keeping which is so important in a regulated environment (such as for the handling of controlled substances). The veterinary profession offers diverse opportunities and more and more veterinarians, like myself, are finding satisfaction outside the classical animal hospital.

Plan your time and don't make yourself too tired.
My favorite sport is also volleyball. When I was a student, I practiced every day and regarded volleyball as life.
Unfortunately, I am now a mother and have to work, but as long as you arrange the time.
It’s your most important to classify the side of the ranking, then just do it.
Don’t forget to take a good rest too!

The more you put in as hours, the more you get out of it.
But having said that, as a starting veterinarian, you should have a well balanced time on and off, otherwise burnout becomes a real possibility. Never allow that to happen.
