Good Morning Joseph,
You pose a thought provoking question.
It can be both rewarding an frustrating. A myriad of emotions all at once.
I spent 37 years wearing the badge and had a variety of assignments and training. I was in everything from SWAT to DWI to Patrol.
There are times when it is the best job in the world and the next moment it is the worst. No day is ever the same and you have to both mentally and physically prepared for whatever life may throw at you.
Police Work as been described as 7 hours and 59 minutes of sheer boredom followed by one minute of sheer terror.
Of course there are a lot of different career paths you can follow and training to take. Education is the main thing don't skimp out on it. I know a lot of officers who spent their whole career in patrol and were completely satisfied, then there were those who took the promotional exams every time they were eligible.
I can say this is not a career to just wonder into, think about it and talk to the officers in your community.
Good Luck.
Stay in school, continue your education, if in college go for Public Administration

Being in public service can be a rewarding career. I was a Security Forces officer in the Air Force. In other branches it would be called Military Police. There are multiple trainings for worse case scenarios. As well as opportunities to learn about laws, operations, and career advancement. Most non military departments require you to be 21 years of age a cop. Military, you can be in law enforcement at 18.
Search local community colleges for training academy.
Speak with a military recruiter about this type of job.
