Hi! My goal after graduating high school was to get accepted into a 4 year university and attend nursing school. During my freshman year of high school, I took AP Human Geography. During my junior year of high school, I took AP history and AP language. My high school also had dual-enrollment which is a college course that is offered at the high school (so you get both high school and college credit). My senior year, I took General Psychology, Probs and Statistics, and one English class. For your AP classes to transfer, you need a to score a 3/5 on the AP exams. Dual enrollment will transfer to colleges if you make a "C" or better. I cannot say enough about how taking these classes during high school lighted my load during college. I went to a liberal arts college, so with the extra classes required, working ahead really helped me not have tons of pre-requisite work. Taking these classes in high school is also cheaper than taking the course in college, which is always a perk :)
Talk with your school counselor about AP/Dual Enrollment Options
Take the course
Take the exam
Transfer your credits

There is no required curriculum in high school for any profession. You goal now is to make sure you graduate high school with the best grades you can get. You will have to attend a college/university after high school to get the training you need. Good luck!

Hi. Good question. I am from Texas and here we have healthcare programs in high school that provides students with the opportunity to shadow different medical professionals. You might want to find out if your school provides any opportunities such as that one. As it comes to regular classes algebra, biology, chemistry will help prepare you for college and to mayor in nursing.

Estefany,
It could be helpful to find out from the nursing programs you're interested in applying to which prerequisite classes would be required for application, and start from there. Many nursing programs typically require anatomy and physiology, introductory psychology, statistics, etc. and they vary from school to school, which is why it could save you a lot of time to look at the specific required prerequisite classes for each nursing program.
Good luck!

No required curriculum but consider taking as much science as you can. Also take as many AP classes as you can. AP credit can save you time and money in college.
