Matthew, Masons are highly venerated...read all about Free Masons. Then try to talk to retired old men who worked in this field. They will like to talk to you and you will learn more talking with them than from many books on the subject Good luck. geny h

Hello. I love Geny's advice to talk with retired masons. That will give you great perspective. Regarding your questions, here are a few thoughts:
1. what are some values the cement company's look for in a person when they hire?
They will be looking for someone reliable. A big problem in this industry is turnover so if you can show you will be a dependable employee that will go a long way. Also - interpersonal skills. You will be working with others and it is important you demonstrate the ability to work well with others. Any team examples you can share in an interview can demonstrate this.
2. What steps do you recommend I take before I entering the career field?
Be sure you eat well and work out! This is a physical job field and your health and well being will be critical to keep a strong back so you don't get injured.
3. What are some strategies you recommend for career me to learn before I enter a career field ?
If you enter this field, you will likely enter an apprentice program (maybe through a union, maybe not). If you join a union, be sure to research how they place "graduates" and what benefits they offer you.
