In addition to B's answer above, a friend of mine created his own business building courtroom models... they were models constructed to help a jury envision a crime scene.

So basically, there are all kinds of things outside the norm of what a carpenter typically does.

It is also worth mentioning that a carpenter is more of a construction trade than a furniture maker or cabinet maker. A carpenter builds more structures as opposed to finer detailed work building cabinetry or furniture.

Besides the obvious stuff, some of the more fun jobs I have met carpenters in are:
Movie sets - they build sets for movies and TV show
Theaters - building sets for plays/musicals
An acquaintance of mine turned completely to art and now he makes money by creating amazing wood designs/painting. Check out his IG:@nugeandwood
