"Practical experience" is the key to your answer. Internship or a volunteer opportunity is the best way to explore more about the field and the industry. Also, it will give you clarity whether you want to be in it or not.

Most importantly, don't worry most of us goes through the same thing. So give yourself time and explore the opportunity and don't compare yourself with others!

Michelle’s Answer

Hi Jesse,

I am an accountant and have been working here for about a year after doing an internship. When I was in college I was a business major and took a Financial Accounting class my freshman year that I did not expect to love. I ended up finding it all very interesting and enjoying what I was doing in the class so much that my professor approached me and asked if I had considered making Accounting my major. I was unsure of what I wanted to do at the time but ended up sticking with Accounting as my major, and also double majoring with Finance. I have ended up loving the job. In general, you can make a career out of any field through hard work and dedication, and networking. Networking is key!!

Best,
Michelle
