Andrew’s Answer

working for a university, it's typically early morning work rehab with athletes, ice bath, PT, stretching, etc. In season, it's a lot of travel. All college teams travel with a trainer for pretty much every sport so depending the level, it could be all local or a lot of far travel a couple times a week. for HS it is easier, but typically just a part time job, similar responsibilities just to a lesser degree.

Marina’s Answer

As an independent personal trainer, I will be honest -- it can be challenging. Most clients prefer weekday early morning, lunchtime, early evening or weekend sessions, so your schedule usually consists of long days with long downtimes in between. You need to constantly "sell yourself" to potential clients and fill your pipeline, whether you work at a gym or for yourself. If you work for a gym, the pipeline of potential clients is more consistent, but the gym will typically take a large chunk of your client revenue in exchange. That being said, it's an incredibly fulfilling and exciting job -- you meet tons of great people and help them achieve their goals, and do something you love in the process!
