If your parents, neighbors and friends are saying that you’re a good singer or have a potential talent, then no need to worry. Complete your education cbsc or higher secondary, college graduation in any subjects. At the same time when you’re doing your studies join short term music courses or private vocal lessons in Bangalore. After your regular college degree, try to get enrolled in a music college or institute affiliated to any well-known institutes in UK or USA. There are plenty of music institutes in India that give western as well as Indian music courses and trainings.

Hello Divya!
First a comment on your previous responder: do not listen to others opinions of whether or not you can sing. It is the most subjective art of any and the only thing that truly matters is where your heart is. One person will hear you sing and think you are an angel from heaven and to another's ears it will sound like the howling of a cat. You must not listen to 'friends and family' in this regard. As well, be ready to have a thick skin yourself: I know professional opera singers that don't like what they hear from themselves when they're singing, sometimes. You must do it because you love it.
Now, I have looked at your school and it appears they support entertainment in their syllabus. You will want to look into any arts programs available to you there. If they haven't any, find if there are any art/performance schools near you that your parents will support transferring you too.
If your school has a choir, JOIN IT! You will want to find a voice teacher as soon as you can. You will want to train classically, regardless of what kind of music you wish to sing. For real success, you should also study music theory. If you can learn an instrument to accompany yourself, you will be that much more able to support yourself with music. Really Good Piano players are ALWAYS in demand and can be costly. If you can play for yourself there are so many benefits.
You must like the teacher you are studying with. I know that sounds obvious, but if you have a teacher that makes you feel in any way criticized or diminished, find another. You should feel corrected and guided, not put down. You must work very, very hard and be committed to practicing proper technique.
If you have an interest in Opera, pursue a vocal performance degree from a University with reputable alumni.
Listen to your favorite singers. Do not try to sing like them, but try and understand what it is about their singing that speaks to you.
To be a singer, you must also be a good performer and understand what you are singing about. You must be well-rounded, as well, and aware of the world and art and history.
Authenticity is vital. You will want to find YOUR voice and you will want to train it in a healthy way so that you can sing well for a long, long time.
Best of Luck to you :)
