Hi
I am not an expert in that field, but of course schooling, and I would suggest in any field find a friend, family member who is already in that field..maybe you could do some shadowing of what they do in their business.

There are many existing and emerging businesses in the automotive field. Certainly, there are the auto repair businesses, the quick lube entities, tire stores, driving schools, upholstery replacement services, windshield repair, auto detailing, child car seats, auto glass staining, auto entertainment systems, shared car rental software, electric car charging stations, et cetera. One would have to think through where the demand is as well as the where the opportunities for your talents may exist.
Certainly, as we look to the future, software will be key. Entertainment or business oriented software will be a large market as autonomous cars become a greater proportion of the auto mix. Just think of all of the things one might do while sitting in an autonomous car.
Also, mobile services will become more pronounced. As people in large cities use shared cars, sofware to track and/or repair those cars, while they remain on the streets, will become very important.
So, you must first understand where the auto industry is heading and see how your skills will enhance solving problems for others. Then you may want to work for an emerging company in a market space that can act as a surrogate for your interests in starting a business.
Certainly other options will be available to work for and then buy into a franchise that will provide growing and profitable services for the emerging mobile market.
I would suggest that you investigate emerging market and technology trends in the automotive industry. You can do this on the internet.
Attend an auto show in your town or city. See what is being displayed in terms of new businesses providing services that are just beginning to be understood.
At an auto show, speak with the folks in the booth that publishes news articles on the auto industry. Ask them what is new and becoming a major business.
