Stuart’s Answer

Fun is a word I use sparingly in any creative undertaking. Producer and Director are different skills sets. Producing is more about keeping the job a team effort. Direction is more about having a vision and getting others to have faith in your leadership.

Bob’s Answer

Being a director can be fun, but it can also be very stressful. The director in a production needs to have an intimate idea of the concept or script, needs to know about the set, who the talent may be (actors, models, artists), music, vendors, camera angles, lighting etc.. He/she also ideally has to have the ability to motivate people to bring out their best. The director also needs to keep the production on time and work with post production staff like the producer(sometimes the same person), editor, marketing and well as others.

For an experienced and well organized person, it can be fun and rewarding. It can also be VERY frustrating when things don't go well (as something always needs help) and the director need to have 'plan b' in mind to use at a moments notice.

David’s Answer

No. It is more fun to be one of the actors in the production than being the one in charge of the actors. With crew members it's a toss up.
