I can answer your question based on what I do, which is an in-house counsel for a corporation. However different legal careers will require different hours. Most weeks I work 5 days a week. Because I am not in legal management I am very seldom required to work on the weekends - however I do make sure that I check my email at least once on the weekend, especially if I have a time-limited project that I am working on. I normally work 9-10 hours a day, which I think is probably normal for the job that I do.
However if you should choose to work in a law firm with the objective of one day becoming a partner then the hours are going to be higher and there will be times when you have to work weekends and I even pulled an all-nighter when I worked in a law firm.
The thing to remember is that in order to learn any job you will probably have to put in more hours when you first start just so you can get up to speed on what is expected of you. But just like with anything else, the more you do a job the more proficient you get at it. The key is to apply yourself and do the best that you can always. Good luck on your future endeavors.
