Hi Deajenae,
I am glad to see that you have received some additional replies and thoughtful suggestions on this inquiry. I will provide some questions to consider as you make preparations for a career in Pharmacology: What factors are important to you in a school?
Location? Close to home? Far from home?
Costs to attend? Existing financial resources? A 529 college savings plan?
Scholarships? Financial Aid package?
Famous school? School ratings? Brand name?
Recognizable alumni who attended that school?
Size of classes?
Sports? Activities? Groups/Clubs?
Curriculum? Range of classes available?
Professors teaching there? Faculty engagement?
Faculty research, publications, citations?
Network? As in network of classmates or network of employers/hiring companies?
Career Guidance? Career Resources? Career Development from enrollment to graduation?
Graduation rates?
Internship opportunities? Training at industry companies?
Job offers upon graduation?
Post-graduation earnings? Data on salaries?
Career path related to Degree earned?
Earnings that cover student loans repayment, costs of living and savings plan?
Alumni Services?
Alumni services that are linked to Career Services?
Alumni involvement after graduation?
Continuous career linkages beyond college graduation?
Recommendations of school by Alumni?
Alumni satisfaction rate 2 years, 5 years after graduation?
After years since I have completed a graduate program, I realize that these questions might be pertinent to your thinking, criteria determination and decision process. I hope that you and family can discuss them as you embark into a new path after JobCorps.
Good Luck and Stay Well,
Natasha

Hi Deajenae,
Another avenue to consider is learning on the job. My first job was a pharmacy technician at a retail pharmacy and I learned the role on the job. I recommend visiting and connecting with local businesses that utilize pharmacy technicians (e.g. hospital, retail, long term care pharmacy) and express your interest.
CVS highly values and offers many different opportunities for pharmacy technicians (e.g. retail, long term care, infusion). To learn more, visit: https://jobs.cvshealth.com/pharmacy-technician?prefilters=none&CloudSearchLocation=none&CloudSearchValue=none
Good luck.

Pharmacy Tech programs are offered in great locations across the country. There are 2 types of programs; one a certificate that can be earned through a 9-18 month program, and advanced degree which is an associates degree which is normally a 2 year commitment. Check out the City Colleges of Chicago for great programs near you.
