How long did it take to get a job in your field after college?
I have been hearing a lot lately that it is very difficult to get a job in marine biology. Is that true? This is all I've ever wanted to do and I am getting a be discouraged. Thank you. #marine-biology

Yes it is. And unfortunately if you did find a job the odds are that the pay would not be what you expect as the predominance of the jobs would most likely be in academic research. There are some jobs out there but you would need a pretty extensive personal NETWORK of contacts to find and get your foot in the door.
Get a dual/double major in Biology and Marine science this way you will always have your biology degree to fall back on. And if you're interested in a better paying jobs try to get into the Pharmaceutical or Bio-pharmaceutical industries as the pay is much better than any academic labs would be. And there are some companies developing drugs from marine going organism. In prior years some companies like Novartis, Aventis, Eli Lilly, Inflazyme Abbott, Wyeth and Taiho Pharmaceuticals Co. – have marine-derived therapeutic products in their pipeline
