I want to enroll in the computer science program in dawson cegep, it is a three year program, but what if I'm wrong when I think I'll like it?

I am about to enroll in the computer science program in Dawson, it's a three year program and I honestly do not want to lose time. I've done computer coding and analysis before and i loved it, it was my best class, but it was a long time ago and I'm not sure if I'll keep liking it when I get back to it. #computer #computer-science #college #computer-software #technology

Then you switch to something else if it comes down to that. Don’t worry about the what if’s...go with your gut..if you feel like it is something you are interested in and want to pursue then go for it. If it doesn’t work out than it doesn’t but you won’t have to ever wonder if you try.

Alecia’s Answer

If you previously like it, then you most likely will now.
Get started and you can always change course of study if needed.
Nobody knows when they get started how it will play out.
Education as with career is never going to take the exact path you think.
Enjoy the journey!

Rachel’s Answer

There's no problem if you start down one path and decide to change it later. There's many different ways you can go with a computer science degree! When I started college I thought I wanted to be a web developer until I started taking some web development and programming classes... then I realized I wanted to be an applications engineer instead. I was able to still continue through the same program, I just changed the courses I focused on and chose.

Alease’s Answer

You should pick a field of study that you believe you will enjoy and find challenging and rewarding. It is not uncommon after a few years to find that what you thought would be fun is not so much, then you can look for another path. The point is to keep moving forward and learning about industries and your personal likes/dislikes.

RAVI’s Answer

Computer science program is a very vast field covering anything and everything from web user interface development, database programming, data analytics, computer architecture, computer networks, music, movies, image processing (MRIs/CTScans, aerial images, space images and many more. Simply put computer science gets applied in all kinds of fields and there is no single profession who cannot find a way to apply computer science.

You can do computer science along with other field/s that interest and see how you can apply your computer science knowledge there. This way you are not just tied to computer science but you are also learning things that you are passionate about. Of course you can change the field/college etc, but that will cost you more time and money at the most. You would have to just do the best choice that suits you at any given point of time.

Life if full of twists and turns. I personally feel there are only a small % of people who to do not change the field, sometime during studies and sometime after studies and sometime during their professional careers.

It is probably not good to get stressed about it too much. You will succeed as long as you are putting in the effort and have the passion in whatever you like.

Michele’s Answer

If you like mathematics, if you like logic programming, if you like troubleshooting something until you get it fix, if you do not mind to pass most of your day in front of a computer, I believe you will love it!
I work with IT and I like so much!
Take a look at the course grade, search a little about each subject and see how you feel.
I believe that if you had done computer coding and analysis before and you loved it, there is a big chance that you will love the course!
