Hi Quantrel, I'll add to the answer above as another great way to learn some of the things you'll encounter running a restaurant: find people you know who own restaurants or who are involved in restaurants and ask them advice! They'll have lots of information that only folks who are really involved in the business will know, and they'll give you an idea of some of the major things to think about ahead. I worked in restaurants for 15 years and learned the most about opening new restaurants from asking the people around me who ran them. Good luck!

First you need to find out what type of business you are going to open and who your target market is. EX: fine dining, fast food, oriental, mexican, soul food. Once you know this you can now start to see who your target market is, who are you attracting? PLEASE DO NOT make the mistake of thinking your business will be for everyone, or almost everyone. Low income, middle, high, what region, location, etc. Then work on your menu. I'll leave you with this final and most important one and that is a business plan. VERY important, because it will ask for what I just asked and much more and how you will grow your business. Now go and start, if you never start you will never know. There is still much more I could tell you but i won't drown you with info. Hope this helps.
