Saving Money for College?

Hi! I am saving money for college as well as applying for all the scholarships I can. I have a job and I save about $200 a month. I feel like I'm not making progress however. What methods of saving money could I use to make this process continue more quickly? #money

Not knowing your financial situation or your families financial situation, but I believe there are many options available for you. Many companies, offer scholarship to the children of employees. Many national companies offer scholarship money for writing essays on various topics from their websites. Depending on the family finances, Pell grants may be available. On the saving question, look at your budget very closely. Take a piece of paper. Write down your income. List ever bill you have including food, etc. Assess the disposable income after you subtract the expenses from your income. Maybe you might have more disposable income or maybe you might be able to adjust, reduce or eliminate some of these expenses where you might be able to substantially increase the amount of savings each month. You could also increase the work hours to allow for more income. I would also say that if you are still in high school, the key is to have & keep great grades. There is a great sum of academic money available & most schools call it the presidential scholarship should you keep a very good GPA. Continue to look at what financial sacrifices you can make within your budget to increase the flow of money into saving for school. I would also look at having discussions with your high school guidance counselors & discuss other options that he/she may encourage based on knowing more about you.
You appear to be a very hard working person that has a very bright future. Continue to ask questions & talk to people which will allow you to be exposed to everything out there that can assist you.

Good luck to you.

I would like to redirect your attention to the main issue which is funding your degree. Two of the presidential race candidates are promising free public colleges and universities. Texas already voted for the primary but you can make a difference in the next stage.

I am happy that you are working towards financing your degree. Most people don't which is wrong. From what I see you are covering all the bases; however, are good at a specific sport? You could get a full ride if you are. Moreover, you could look for a higher paying job for the summer.

I hope you the best and I am sorry if I wasn't that helpful.
