Michael’s Answer

There is a very wide salary for physicians. This depends on the medical specialty they practice, what stage of their career, whether you include doctors who are not yet certified in their specialty and are working for much lower salaries as resident physicians, and whether you include doctors who are not working in clinical practice but are serving in other roles, medical administration, as medical scientists etc. In fact the range might be so wide as to have little value. That said most surveys would estimate the low end of the salary range in the 150,000/year range for some primary care physicians, such as pediatricians, and the high end would be some surgical specialties such as neurosurgery which would be closer to 600 or 700,000/ year. Christina’s Answer

Hi Sowmiya,
The salary of a doctor depends on many things, such as what field are you in, do you work at an academic training hospital (generally pays less) or a non-academic city or community hospital (generally pays more), and how much do you choose to work (some doctors work full time and others work part time).
Here is a link to an informational blog about physician salaries:
https://weatherbyhealthcare.com/blog/annual-physician-salary-report#:~:text=Male%20specialists%20earned%20an%20average,diabetes%2Fendocrinology%20(52%25).

Christina recommends the following next steps:

Google "physician salaries by specialty" to find some examples.
Mostly, decide if you want to be a physician first and focus your energy on studying and succeeding to the best of your ability.
Develop good money habits, no matter what career you ultimately choose.
Good luck and always be true to yourself!

James Constantine’s Answer

Hello Sowmiya,

Salary of a Doctor

The salary of a doctor can vary significantly depending on various factors such as specialization, experience, location, and type of healthcare setting. In India, the average salary of a doctor ranges from around ₹5-10 lakhs per year for junior doctors to ₹20-50 lakhs or more per year for experienced specialists and consultants in private hospitals or clinics. Doctors working in government hospitals or public healthcare facilities may have slightly lower salaries compared to those in the private sector.

Specialists like surgeons, cardiologists, neurologists, and radiologists tend to earn higher salaries due to the complexity of their work and demand for their services. Additionally, doctors who have their clinics or private practices can potentially earn more than those working as employees in hospitals.

It’s important to note that these figures are approximate and can vary based on individual circumstances. Factors such as reputation, additional qualifications, research contributions, and the number of patients treated can also influence a doctor’s earning potential.

In conclusion, the salary of a doctor in India can range from a few lakhs to several lakhs per year, with specialists and experienced professionals typically earning higher incomes.

Government Health Ministry Reports: Reports published by the Indian government’s health ministry often contain data on healthcare professionals’ salaries, especially those working in public healthcare institutions. These reports provide valuable information on the remuneration of doctors in government service.

GOD BLESS!
James.
